Let It V

It’s Friday at last, the sun is shining here in Berlin (well, kind of shining anyway), and the snow and ice that has blighted any attempt to walk anywhere without some kind of accident is finally beginning to melt away. The difference in people’s mood is unbelievable, so how appropriate that while we were looking for an image to use in our AUPEO! Music update, we came across a recurring theme, concerning what we think could be the most peaceful man of all time.

Yes, it’s the Beatles’ own Mr. Richard Henry Parkin Starkey Jr, better known, of course, as Ringo Starr. We’ve noticed that Ringo has a message for all of us, and he seems eager to show it at pretty much every photo opportunity he can.

It looks like he’s been up to this sort of thing for some time now…

We may well laugh, but who can blame him? This man is from a generation that genuinely believed the mantra “All you need is Love”. Perhaps we should take heed of Ringo’s message. After all, what did the Beatles and other exponents of the love generation really stand for? Skeptics may argue that the whole thing was idealistic, overly simplistic hot air, and you may well agree in the broader scheme of things. But really, what’s so bad about integrating even just a little bit of peace into your life? If we all had just a modicum of the amount of peacefulness that Ringo has, the world would probably be a much nicer place. Why don’t you start by checking out Ringo Starr’s AUPEO! Artist Station and see if a little bit of peace rubs off on you.

And if you like that, be sure to catch the Fab Four alongside the greatest British Invasion bands of the 60s in our Abbey Road AUPEO! Station (in the Pop section).
